The highlight today was the visit to the South Australian Museum. In addition to its natural history exhibits, it has the largest collection of Aboriginal cultural artifacts.
Although the Aborigines of Australia spoke a variety of languages, one exhibit does give an example of some native words.
The opal exhibit was also fascinating. We saw the Fire of Australia, the finest uncut opal, and opalized fossils - remnants of the past frozen in opal.
We began the day with a brilliant sunrise over the water.
When we sailed into Adelaide in the afternoon, we passed by sand spits with cormorants, gulls and pelicans.
We then left on our city tour, beginning with the museum and some time for shopping and ending with a bus tour of Adelaide. Adelaide is known for its universities. Many of the shops and restaurants cater to the students, including "The Lost Dice" where you can book a table to play a board game with friends. Cricket and rugby are popular sports, and we saw a statue commemorating a famous cricket player We also passed by beautiful parks and homes. One had a bird bath out front and while the other side of the bus admired a statue, I had a perfect view as lorikeets enjoyed their bath.
The night before we had a special Valentine's Day dinner. The ship delivered special chocolates to the room. It was formal night so we dressed up. The napkins were folded like hearts and there was a delicious heart-shaped chocolate cake for dessert.
I love all of your pictures and these are some of my favorites (seeing you two all gorgeous and fancy 😉). - Crystal D.
