Morning view from our room:
This morning, Brent headed out to explore the Faaroa River in a canoe, as well as to do some more snorkeling. My tour, “Tales and Legends”, was canceled so instead I explored the port town of Utoroa. Brent joined me after his morning tour.
Faaroa River has a great abundance of bird life, but alas luck was not with Brent and he saw few birds. It was a pretty canoe ride though.
At the motu, masks were not provided for snorkeling, so Brent was the “spotter” above the water. He told the snorkelers where he saw different fish. One of them kindly took his camera and took pictures for him. They even found a “shipwreck” – a crashed boat similar to those used with the tourist excursions.
While walking around town, we saw birds and pretty purple flowers growing in the water. We walked through grocery stores, as well as the town outdoor market selling fresh produce, fresh flowers, and shell necklaces.
The sail-away was beautiful. We inched slowly along through the passage between the coral reefs. The lighter turquoise blue waters are the reefs. We saw small motus (little islands) and many of the Society Islands of Tahiti as we made our way back to open ocean.
Beautiful Tahiti!
